Certainly status is part of the atmosphere of the lie, but affiliation is difficult to test and the point about knowledge is clearly the most significant parameter as it creates the ‘ opening’ for the lie.

As humans, we do seem to trust people who are our family or friends more than strangers, but it also depends on your relationship with those people as well, it’s a two way street cause I personally wouldn’t trust a lot of things my family has to say because of how they are. People also tend to trust politicians more because of their status and they get manipulated by their promises and think that the person in power is in that position because they deserve it. When it comes to trusting people to give you the correct set of information based on their knowledge, we tend to trust the news too much because we think they’re doing a good deed, forgetting they can spread propaganda, that’s why I take everything with a grain of salt, especially in today’s society, you have to fact check everything three times over before you can even believe.

This sounds like the whole truth. However, it hasn't been fully tested. ASK, Affiliation, Status, Knowledge are well known in some circles as the three pillars of trust. We take this further and predict, by the cognitive science of lies, Mendaciology, that the brain computes these in order.
