Declining birth rates often reflect greater freedom for women through education, careers, and reproductive healthcare. However, they can also result from economic and social pressures, so they are not always a clear sign of progress.

Studies have shown that when women get more education, jobs and access to contraceptives, the birth rates usually do decrease as women are now able to decide for themselves if or when they would like to have kids.

I truly believe this and I agree with it because why would we bring children in many developing or third world countries that are fighting against each other - what is the point of reproduction if there isn’t stability in the world as of now.

Honestly, I think this is humanity correcting itself. Women being forced to have kids in a nuclear family setting under capitalism has resulted in overpopulation and generations with increasing mental health issues. We should worry more about the quality of life and opportunities for kids rather than just creating another tax payer or labourer for billionaires.

Declining birth rates can reflect greater freedom, education, and autonomy, particularly for women, but that is not the only factor or consequence involved.

No. It is one valid explanation, but not the whole truth.

Factors like the environment or country you live in may have an effect on the decrease in the birth rates. Some countries that are overpopulated only allow women to legally give birth to a certain amount of children in their country. Some women would also love to have children but factors such as unemployment, poverty and lack of stable housing may prevent women from doing so.

It is sad for women that want children but can’t have any but for those who are choosing not to have children- they understand that children require more than just a mother they need stability and some women want adventure and spontaneous

If you really think about it a drop in birth rate means we will have a high elderly population, which puts stress on medical resources and care homes - who will be understaffed due to a lack of young workers (in comparison to the number of elderly that is). However, it also has potential positive impacts, as elderly populations require more walkable and accessible infrastructure! Furthermore, more elderly = less workers = more jobs (maybe even too many jobs) which would encourage businesses to reevaluate what they consider a “liveable wage” putting more money in the hands of the average person. Most governments and corporations are not concerned about these things however (even if they say they are) - they’re more worried about having less workers to exploit, and less consumers to buy their products.
