Eidetikers, people with eidetic memory, are predicted by AI models based on Perceptron, Neural Network, Theory. LLMs predict that perfect memory is possible in any neural network system.

Both AI models (like LLMs) and human brains store memories by connecting massive webs of information together (like a giant digital web or puzzle). However, just because an AI can remember or process details really well doesn't prove that human photographic (eidetic) memory works the exact same way. Human brains use physical senses and biological wiring, which is totally different from how software runs on math and computer memory.

The argument says that rarely is a person found with perfect memory, and goes on say perceptron theory predicts this. But then argues that perceptron theory does predict perfect memory. If perceptrons accurately reflected brains then presumably perfect memories would naturally exist among humans. In fact, Eidetic memory is somewhat of a myth. Brains go through a process of synaptic pruning as they age which converts the literal memories into faster acting conceptual entities. This alone suggests that the perceptron circuits are only analogous to some neuron behaviour but do not shed much light on consciousness for example, where there are many more physical processes going on in the brain than the mere adding or diminishing in synaptic action which is what the perceptron copies.

Isn't the question really what role intuition or inference plays in cognition? An AI "brain" can look at objective data--even with perfect recollection--and will only see that data. A human brain can look at the same objective data and make spontaneous, subjective inferences. Can an AI "brain" do this spontaneously? I think not.

Good memories are for specific cognitive realms. There is no such thing as a perfect memory for everything. I know someone who seems to have memorised the entire set of English test and county cricket statistics and could answer any question about them. He did however lose his job in insurance, so how useful was this feat? And does memorising require a different mental procedure than The so-called eidetic memory which just, supposedly, is two parameters, detail and persistence. There is also the problem of where say an autobiographical memory ends and another begins.. if the eidetic process was real there would be a continually unbroken continuum of events in memory and thus the question of how would access to any point in Time in this continuum be handled.

Actually AI does not remember anything of events of the moment in the proposed eidetic process except deliberate short term contextual information related to the prompt. All its data is represented in vectors whose similarity provides the output. It’s memory banks have already been loaded by other processes unrelated to the experiences provoked by the prompt.
